The Politics Of Ministerial List

The agitations and uproar that preceded the ministerial nominee presented by President Muhmmadu Buhari, its criticism and the disappointment it has generated.  That having waited for such a long a time for the list and the eventual release, with such names that dominated it.

However, the disappointment it generated is the unnecessary suspense or delay for months if the list will comprise names of people we know already, the beliefs is that having been political close allies with him, he would have had ample time to understudy or scrutinize their character for reliability sake.

With this kind of nominees making the list, appears to expose the president’s lack of understanding the type of hands the nation need that will actually help her out of the quicksand of political and socio-economic troubles.  The nation’s present challenges need competent hands that could pull her out of the economic doldrums. And definitely not those that are enmeshed in trouble waters of corruption.

In as much as one would have wanted to believe, the rationale behind Mr President inclusion of his political allies among the list, those who stood by and support him through the years and resolutely during the campaigns until his eventual victory after series of attempt. Nothing whatsoever, is wrong with the old hands making the list but definitely not the ones with questionable character or one that have one litigation running their tail.
